Primary Programme
Our Primary Programme is based on UK National Strategies in Numeracy and Literacy framework.
Literacy
Government guidelines mean that every child has to have the capability to read and what is more understand what is being read. We focus on the key skills required to exceed the National Average and all our students aim to go achieve beyond government guidelines.
Writing Skills
Many children are falling behind in being able to write comprehensible texts in legible English. The area of focus for our specialist tutors is not just to get students to do this but also to encourage creative ideas to be put to paper. We have been consistently successful in this and children not only do well but also enjoy our programmes of work.
Maths
How many times have we heard youngsters say “maths is boring?” To be able to turn this into a positive statement, we use stimulating techniques devised through many years of teaching experience. The end result is a child brimming with confidence and actually finding enjoyment in a subject that they never thought they would do well in!

Our aim
Our aim is to encourage, motivate and inspire confidence in children for them to learn and improve their mathematic skills. We do this by teaching children the basics and developing their confidence. So children accelerate in their learning, no longer feel nervous and are able to be competently apply their mathematical skills to achieve high levels at KS2.
It is important that students have a thorough understanding of what they learnt during the session. We provide our students with homework every week to ensure consistency in learning; anything they have not understood can be identified and revisited.
We offer our students an Email Homework Support Service, if they are struggling on an aspect of their homework, they can email info@astartutoring.com and our promise is to get back to you within 48 hours (between Monday and Friday) with a breakdown of the answer.
